Thinking Pink

I am not a super girly girl, and never really have been.  Lately though, I've found myself emerged in a sea of pink, of bows and ribbons, of frills and lace...and am finding that I am loving it!  Perhaps it spawned out of being surrounded by boy things, or perhaps it was there all the time, I don't know.

I remember being equally excited about prepping for JJ's arrival.  Little boy things were a lot of fun and still are!  But little girl things are a whole new world for me!  We've started a registry for little girl things, that was pretty fun!  Since we have most of the necessities, pretty much all we have to focus on is clothes and cloth diapers (minus a few big ticket items), and of course those are fun to pick out!

JJ has also been pretty enthralled with it all, picking out little things and "oohing" and "awwwwing" over them.  They will be sharing a room for a while, or at least their stuff will, so JJ's closet now how little pink things in it and he makes a point of pointing them out whenever he is in there.  So far, so good with the little sister thing...hope it continues!

JJ and I made cupcakes just after the ultrasound to celebrate...JJ thought it was a good idea if they were pink.  I agreed.  He had watched a few gender reveal party videos, as we were thinking about throwing a party (but didn't), so he demanded cake.  It made sense to him.  Who was I to argue?

I am trying hard to balance the excitement and nesting for the new baby and trying not to let JJ feel like he is being replaced.  Its harder than I thought, I'm exited about her and tend to talk about her a lot, not realizing it.
(That happens a lot with prego women I think.  Do you ever feel like to talk about the baby too much and people just stop listening?  At least some days.  But, honestly, no one can be as excited as you at this point!)
He is taking it in stride and even asks when she is awake so he can give her kisses and talk to her.  That melts my heart just a little.  He refers to her as his baby as well, we may have to sort that one out, but I'm glad hes taking ownership of her:P

Side note: our next appointment is on the 10th...praying for good news!

  1. That cupcake is adorable. I have never been into pink, but when I found out that my daughter was a girl, I couldn't resist some of the adorable little pink outfits out there. I would say that the majority of her closet is not pink, but some pink definitely made it's way in there :)
